Trial lawyers form personal injury law firm dedicated to handling serious plaintiff's cases
RICHMOND, Va. – November 1, 2009 – Five nationally recognized
trial lawyers in Richmond, Virginia announced today the formation of a
new firm devoted to families devastated by catastrophic injury or death
and other cases of serious personal and economic loss.
Effective November 1, 2009, Irvin V. Cantor, Lewis T. Stoneburner, H. Aubrey Ford III, Stephanie E. Grana, and Elliott M. Buckner will continue their practice together as Cantor, Stoneburner, Ford, Grana & Buckner, P.C. with offices located downtown. Bellamy Stoneburner will join the firm as an associate. Prior to the launch of their new firm, all six attorneys practiced in the litigation section of CantorArkema, P.C.
The partners of Cantor, Stoneburner, Ford, Grana & Buckner, P.C. have
achieved more than 40 verdicts and settlements exceeding $1,000,000 for
their clients and are consistently listed in Virginia Lawyers Weekly’s
feature on “Largest Verdicts in Virginia.” The three senior
partners each have more than 30 years of trial experience and have received
national recognition for their achievements in civil litigation. Cantor
and Stoneburner were included in the “Top 50 Virginia Super Lawyers”
in 2009, and Ford was inducted as a fellow of the American College of
Trial Lawyers in 2007, an honor limited to the top 1% of attorneys in
each state. All five partners were selected by Virginia Super Lawyers,
and Grana and Buckner were recognized as “Rising Stars.” Four
of the five partners are listed in Best Lawyers in America in multiple
categories and are AV® rated, Martindale-Hubbell’s highest rating

Irv Cantor has spent his entire 31 year career dedicated to those clients who have suffered serious injuries. He has successfully tried to verdict or settled over 1500 plaintiff’s injury or death cases, including over 350 traumatic brain injury cases. In addition to receiving many accolades, he has served as president of the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association, the Brain Injury Association of Virginia, and the Virginia Chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates. He served as the chairman of the Brain Injury Association of America’s National Legal Conference for the last two years.
Lewis Stoneburner has more than 33 years of experience representing those suffering as a result of catastrophic medical malpractice and personal injuries, as well as handling commercial tort cases. He has successfully handled numerous neurological birth-related injuries and brachial plexus cases. He served as president of the Virginia Chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates, and is a member of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum, the Virginia and Southern Trial Lawyers Associations, and the American Association of Justice.
Aubrey Ford is an accomplished trial lawyer, who has successfully handled a diverse array of cases in federal and state court over his 30 year career. He handles business litigation, legal malpractice, complex personal injury, employment, civil rights and class-action matters, and has tried over 100 jury trials to verdict. He was the head of the litigation section of the law firm of Browder, Russell before joining Cantor Arkema in 1991. He has been listed for over ten years in Best Lawyers in America, currently designated in four categories.
Stephanie Grana has more than 15 years experience handling plaintiff’s medical malpractice and personal injury cases. She has handled several high profile cases and has been quoted in the national press and television. She served as president of the Lewis F. Powell, Jr. America Inn of Court and the Metro Richmond Women’s Bar Association. She is currently on the Board of Governors for the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association and served as chair of the Young Trial Lawyers. She is a member of the American Association of Justice and was named “Top 40 Under 40” by Style Weekly in 2008.
Elliott Buckner has 10 years of experience as a trial lawyer with a solid reputation representing those seriously injured from tractor-trailer collisions, automobile accidents, and defective products, as well as cases involving traumatic brain injury, spinal cord, and wrongful death. He is currently on the Board of Governors for the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association and is co-chairing the Brain Injury Association of America’s National Legal Conference. He is a member of the American Association of Justice and has been recognized in “Legal Elite” by Virginia Business Magazine.
